Short version: we collect almost nothing, sell nothing, and delete on request.
We collect two things. If you email us, we receive the address you write from and anything you include in the message. If you browse the site, our web server records anonymous page views and basic technical information such as the page requested and the referring page.
We do not run advertising pixels, cross-site trackers or browser fingerprinting. We do not require an account to read anything. We do not collect payment details because there is nothing to buy.
Email correspondence is used only to answer your message and, where relevant, to follow up on a correction or tip. We do not sell, rent or share it with advertisers.
Page-view data is used to understand which stories readers value and to fix broken pages. It is aggregated and is not used to build individual profiles.
The site itself sets no marketing cookies. If we embed a third-party service in a story, we will say so on the page and link to that provider's policy. Your browser may store basic preferences locally.
You can ask us to confirm what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email [email protected] with the subject "privacy request". We respond within seven days.
Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the request, then deleted. Server logs are kept for 30 days and then deleted or aggregated. Access to reader messages is limited to the editorial desk.
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If this policy changes materially, we will note the change at the top of the page. The date below is the date of the last revision.
